Finding Yourself In a Busy World.

Pranayama Meditation

Pranayama is the science of the breath, control of which has been shown to improve physical health and wellbeing and to still the mind. When combined with meditation it can serve as a powerful de-stressing tool. The courses allow you too observe your habitual patterns of breathing and their affect upon the mind, we then learn to alter them to produce a blanaced and more harmonious state of mind, creating postivie thinking that pours out into your everyday life. The bi weekly meditation in Hitchin, North Herts, meets on the second and last sunday of every month, except August and December. 7 - 8.30pm. Everyone is welcome, whether your a complete beginner to meditation or a more advanced practitioner.

The Benefits of Meditation and Pranayama

Breathing is voluntary and automatic and as such is considered unique within our bodies. Taking slower, deeper breaths one has the ability to help control the nervous system. Ultimately, breathing slowly can induce calmness relaxation, and focus. When we breathe we often only use part of our lungs decreasing blood circulation, impairing the functioning of the organs leading to health problems. Deep breathing stimulates and improving your lymphphatic system, and thereby avoiding circulatory problems. How you breathe directly affects your cardiovascular system. Daily practice of deep, diaphragmatic breathing has been shown to have a positive effect on essential hypertension (high blood pressure of unknown cause). Breathing from your diaphragm is easy to do, the habit of doing it must be consciously cultivated before it can become automatic. Pranayama conditions your body to breath itself better. With our attention focused on good breath we can directly affect how we think, inducing at state of calm, focused awareness, leading to meditation. When our mind reaches a point of focus we dramatically reduce stress and develop a more balanced state of mind. This eventually affects our daily lives enabling us to react in a calmer, more positive way to lifes challenges.
